[News] Population an issue where we must seek consensus: PM Lee

There’s a different side to every story. And the story that we have at hand here is Population.

While the Philippines adopt the Reproductive Health Bill last Saturday to ease the growing population of the country, Singapore sings a different tune to entice the citizens to produce more children and avoid the ageing and shrinking population.

Rest assured, both government moves are aimed for the betterment of their respective country.

SINGAPORE – Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in his New Year message that one issue where Singaporeans must seek consensus is population, an area which has been much discussed in 2012.

He said Singapore needs to prevent its citizen population from ageing and shrinking and that Singaporeans need to have more babies.

The number of new immigrants being taken in must also be considered, he said.
