Tanglin Trust School, Thursday, January 10, 2013 — The Singapore Slingers are back for a fourth season as they seek regional basketball glory in the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).
The ABL this year features a change in format as six teams will compete, playing each other four times. There will be 10 home and away matches while a mid-season tournament, which will be played in Vietnam, will also count towards the ladder.
With plenty of changes to the squad, they will be hoping to put the memory of a disappointing 2012 campaign behind them after they failed to qualify for the play-offs for the first time in their history. A return to the post-season has been made their goal this year.
Five new faces have been introduced to the squad after veterans Steven Khoo and Pathman Matialakan called time on their professional basketball careers. Three local boys have joined the team while a new international import and an ASEAN player make up the other two changes.
